Our Immutable Savior

In the course of preparing to teach from Hebrews 13:7-9 I came across the following by the late S. Lewis Johnson. I trust that as you read it you will see why I have posted it.

"The immutable Messiah has the keys of life. The sciences and philosophies of today become "the obsolete of tomorrow." No words of Jesus are obsolete. He speaks the same words to the 20th century as to the first. Which of you can criticize any word of Jesus Christ? Every time we open up the Scriptures, we are reading that which is relative and contemporary. And so we proclaim this eternal, sovereign Christ. Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, He was satisfactory for you yesterday was He not? For your sins, He has died for them. He has brought you into the faith, and He has been sufficient for your past; and He is sufficient for you TODAY. When the trials of life come and when death comes, He is the same today. He came to save you, and He is the same TOMORROW, and on into eternity. "Lo I’m with you always, even to the end of the age." The eternal immutable Christ is sufficient for you. There is only one thing needed, and that is that you know Him.

Thou living, loving, mighty God, Thou art enough for me.

To God our Father above, We glory in Thy love,
